Průvodce neklidným územím (Guide Through Restless Territory) to Czechoslovak photography is pleasantly restless. The publication in a medium-sized format acquaints readers with key figures and trends in photographic techniques from the mid nineteenth century to the present. Although each page has an individual layout and the content is happy to abandon the format, thanks to its unobtrusive colours and uniform graphic principles the book retains its visual integrity. The individual chapters are complemented by the comics of Lucie Šťastná, which return in the form of original photo collages for selected themes. The shorter blocks made up of an airy typeset design on unbleached natural paper does not put a strain on the eyes and highlights the impression of perfectly executed work. You will want to return to the stories of Czechoslovak photography.
