Unscientific Anthropology

The protocol from the meeting of the Ideological Commission of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia's Central Committee held on 9 Apr. 1964 informs of the decision of the Presidium of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences to dismiss Ivan Sviták from the Institute of Philosophy, for serious political errors that are incompatible with his position and duties as a scientist of the Academy. It is noted that an article by Sviták entitled “Man and Poetry”, published in the second issue of the journal Czech Literature, completely contradicts the principles of Marx-Leninist aesthetics and the principles of the Party's cultural policy, and requests that the serious political error of the editors of Czech Literature who published Svitak's article be discussed with the journal’s editor-in-chief, Ladislav Štoll.
