Desktop application Repro

The Repro application enables communication and data sharing between the textological workplace, i.e. other researchers, and the LA PNP digitization workplace. Through it, after registration and access authorization (access data will be provided on the basis of a contract with PNP), it is possible to view, select and download digital copies of archival materials from individual digitized collections for further use, e.g. for exhibition or publication purposes. The application is part of the grant project From source to edition. Access to archival collections of Czech literature and their use in editorial practice (NAKI DG16P02H033).

You can download the app here.

The accompanying text with a description of the application and brief instructions in pdf format can be downloaded here.

Methodology of archival processing of personal literary collections with regard to their subsequent research utilisation

The presented method deals with archival holdings that document literary and cultural life in the Czech lands and, with regard to the currently valid domestic methodical guidelines - which integrate international standards (ISAD and ISAAR CPF) - it formulates general principles for their processing, taking into account the practice of the Literary Archive of the Memorial of National Literature (hereinafter referred to as LA PNP).

The aim of this method is to analyse critically the existing Guidelines for the processing of archival material in the PNP Literary Archive (Prague 2013), which govern the processing of archival files of the personal fonds type, which constitute 91% of the total of 2 355 archival collections deposited in the PNP. At the same time, it was necessary to update the valid parts of the existing guidelines to correspond to the revised edition of the Basic Rules for the Processing of Archival Materials from 2015 (2nd supplemented and corrected edition, M. Wanner et al, Prague, 2015), to add new sub-operations (e.g. the creation of indexes according to the Basic Rules) and, above all, to extend the entire processing procedure by a part that has been completely missing so far - the preparation of archival materials for digitisation and the specification of the digitisation process itself.

The need for a new methodological guideline arose especially in connection with the beginning of the systematic digitization of the collections (started in LA PNP in 2016) and the grant project From Source to Edition. Access to archival collections of Czech literature and their use in editorial practice (NAKI DG16P02H033). The methodology therefore meets the requirements that are currently faced by the staff of most archival institutions.

The accompanying report on the methodology can be downloaded here.

The text of the methodology can be downloaded here.
